Extraordinary Display of Talent at the IUB’s flagship event, TechFest Spring 2023

The Computer Science & Engineering Department at IUB, in collaboration with Fab Lab, JUKTI - Club of CSE, IEEE Computer Society IUB, and IUB ACM Student Chapter, successfully organized a spectacular university’s flagship event on April 5th & 6th, 2023, showcasing student talent and innovation. The event was a testament to the skill, creativity, and dedication of the participants involved in a diverse range of projects and competitions.

This year, there were multiple segments on computation, fabrication, and hardware projects including RC Robot Race, LFR, Maze Solver, Mini Soccer Bot Competition, Algorithm Project, Web Application Project, System Analysis Project, Database Management Project, Microprocessor Project, & OOP Project Showcase. Judges assessed each participating team based on innovation, creativity, presentation, and complexity of the projects they presented. The winners were acknowledged with certificates and a total prize money of BDT 85,000.

The event was brilliantly organized by Dr. Saadia Binte Alam, Ms. Sabrina Alam, Ms. Ajmiri Sabrina Khan, and Mr. Noor-E-Sadman. Their tireless efforts were evident in the seamless execution of the event.

Miss Ajmiri Sabrina Khan, a member of the organizing committee, opened the event with a welcoming speech, acknowledging the enthusiasm and hard work of all those involved.

The highlight of the event was the prize-giving ceremony, celebrating the brightest minds across diverse fields:

Database Management Project Showcase: This competition saw students demonstrating their grasp of database concepts and their innovative applications.

Line Follower Robo Race: The sheer precision and speed displayed by all the robots was impressive.

Maze Solver Competition: This competition showcased the creativity and problem-solving abilities of the participants using both coding knowledge and hardware competency.

Mini Soccer Bot Competition: This was a thrilling contest of strategy and teamwork.

3rd prize: The Squad, Blue Locked and Speed Demons

Microprocessor Project Showcase: This competition was a testament to the participants' technical prowess.

Algorithm Project Showcase: Participants showcased their understanding and application of complex algorithms.

3rd prize: Extendible Hashing

RC Robo Race: An exciting race that tested the speed and control of the participants' robots.

System Analysis Project Showcase: This competition saw participants presenting innovative solutions for system analysis.

Web Application Project Showcase: Students displayed their proficiency in web development in this segment.

OOP Project Showcase: This competition was a display of the participants' understanding of Object-Oriented Programming.

The esteemed faculty members who judged the event had a challenging task due to the high standard of the projects presented.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks provided by Dr. Mahady Hasan, Interim Dean, SETS, Head, Dept. of CSE. Dr. Hasan expressed his gratitude towards everyone who contributed to making the event a resounding success, and praised the participants for their remarkable display of talent and innovation.

The Computer Science & Engineering Department of IUB looks forward to hosting more such events in the future, providing a platform for students to showcase their potential and innovate.
