Live in Field Experience (LFE) is a signature course of IUB. It allows IUB students, most of whom come from urban settings, to have an immersive experience of everyday life in rural Bangladesh. Unique in Bangladesh, the overarching idea, which owes its roots to some of the leading social thinkers of this region, is to bridge the gap in knowledge that an urban student has about their rural counterparts. As part of the LFE, which is a mandatory course, small groups of students (usually 5-10, mix of male and female, and English and Bangla medium backgrounds) spend a certain amount of time at different locations in Bangladesh and experience life in the fields.
IUB and Eduko Bangladesh organize English workshop for IUB students

The Career Guidance, Placement & Alumni Relations (CGP&AR) office of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) and Eduko Pathways Bangladesh jointly organized a workshop titled “IELTS and Language Accelerator Workshop” for IUB students on June 13, 2023. A good number of students from different departments participated in the workshop that had an elaborate focus on English language proficiency. The workshop ended with an evaluation test where the participants got the opportunity to show their English writing skills.
From IUB's side, event was coordinated by Ms. Farjana Hafiz, Career Counselor, CGP&AR, under the guidance of Ms. Sharmeen Islam, Assistant Director and Acting Head of CGP&AR. The Eduko team was led by their Chief Marketing Officer Mr. Qazi Tushar, who is also an IUB alum. The educational content was designed by Mr. Murtaza Kabir, Head of IELTS, and his team. The workshop was divided into two identical sessions in order to give ample opportunity to all interested students to participate.
"We would like to express sincere gratitude to CGP&AR office of IUB and the volunteers for their support in organizing this event. We are overwhelmed by the response and the enthusiasm of the students who attended the two workshops", said Mr. Tushar.
“We feel that we were able to equip the participants with necessary language skills and test-taking strategies to succeed in the IELTS examination. This workshop has provided valuable insights and support for those seeking to pursue higher education abroad," he added.
“Both the workshops were a full house, which shows that they generated a great deal of interest among the students," said Ms. Farzana Hafiz.
In order to gauge the level of assimilation of the training contents by the participants, an Assessment Test was conducted immediately after the end of the workshop. Students who pass the test will be awarded an e-certificate within seven days.
