Founded in 1993, Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) is one of the oldest and leading private universities in Bangladesh where academic excellence is a tradition, teaching a passion and lifelong learning a habit. IUB currently has more than 9,800 undergraduate and graduate students and over 13,700 alumni. Live in Field Experience (LFE) is a signature course of IUB. It allows IUB students, most of whom come from urban settings, to have an immersive experience of everyday life in rural Bangladesh. Unique in Bangladesh, the overarching idea, which owes its roots to some of the leading social thinkers of this region, is to bridge the gap in knowledge that an urban student has about their rural counterparts. As part of the LFE, which is a mandatory course, small groups of students (usually 5-10, mix of male and female, and English and Bangla medium backgrounds) spend a certain amount of time at different locations in Bangladesh and experience life in the fields.

Dr. Md. Abdur Razzak, Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and Professor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) conducted a seminar (online) on "OBE, Curriculum Development and Accreditation" as one of the Expert Panel Members at the 7th International Faculty Development Program (IFDP) held during July 3-11, 2023 organized by the Chandigarh University (CU), Punjab, India.
More than 100 experts and professors from 79 universities across 28 countries participated in Chandigarh University’s 9-day international faculty development program, which began on Monday, July 3, 2023 with a grand inaugural ceremony which was attended by experts and hundreds of faculty members of the University.
The seventh edition of CU’s IFDP was held in both offline and online mode which focuses on sensitizing the faculty about new concepts and methodologies in teaching, research, updating knowledge using modern information, and equipping them with the necessary skills.
During the 9-day event, which is India’s biggest International Faculty Development Program, several lectures, screenings, and meetings were organized with the involvement of faculties from over 25 departments of the university. Sessions related to curriculum development and research, challenges faced by the university, and possible solutions to improve the quality of education were also held.
