Founded in 1993, Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) is one of the oldest and leading private universities in Bangladesh where academic excellence is a tradition, teaching a passion and lifelong learning a habit. IUB currently has more than 9,800 undergraduate and graduate students and over 13,700 alumni. The students of IUB experience an exciting academic life with copious opportunities to explore and nurture their innate talent.
Live in Field Experience (LFE) is a signature course of IUB. It allows IUB students, most of whom come from urban settings, to have an immersive experience of everyday life in rural Bangladesh. Unique in Bangladesh, the overarching idea, which owes its roots to some of the leading social thinkers of this region, is to bridge the gap in knowledge that an urban student has about their rural counterparts. As part of the LFE, which is a mandatory course, small groups of students (usually 5-10, mix of male and female, and English and Bangla medium backgrounds) spend a certain amount of time at different locations in Bangladesh and experience life in the fields.
Successful “Career Workshop” Empowers EEE Students for Future Careers

The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) in collaboration with the EEE/ETE Alumni Association recently concluded a highly successful career workshop. Held on 13th July 2023, the event witnessed enthusiastic participation from EEE students and alumni, making it a resounding success.
The workshop featured two informative sessions aimed at enhancing students' career prospects. The first session focused on CV writing, led by AKM Monir Hossain, VP & Chief Human Resources Officer at BanglaCAT, who shared his expertise and valuable insights. Participants gained valuable insights and practical tips on crafting effective resumes and cover letters, essential components in today's competitive job market.
The second session, titled "Facing an Interview," provided attendees with expert guidance from two accomplished alumni, Nafisa Binte Yousuf, Product Manager, IoT and Cloud Services Business Division, Grameenphone Ltd, and Md Arif Moin Uddin, Manager (Operation & Maintenance), Dhaka Metro. Drawing from their own experiences, they shared invaluable advice on interview preparation, communication skills, and impressing potential employers.
Approximately 100 students actively engaged in the workshop, seizing the opportunity to learn from industry experts and successful alumni who have made remarkable strides in their careers. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan, Pro VC (Acting VC) of IUB, further adding significance to the occasion.
The support and involvement of the IUB EEE/ETE Alumni Association played a pivotal role in making this workshop a resounding success. Heartfelt gratitude is extended to Navila Rahman Nodi (Senior Lecturer), Nazmus Sakib (Joint Secretary of the Association and R&D Officer), Abdullah Al Amin (Vice President of the Association), and Muhammad Asif Hossain (Treasurer of the Association) for their tireless efforts and dedication in organizing this event.
A special note of thanks is extended to Prof. Feroz Ahmed, Head of the Department of EEE, for his unwavering support and guidance. His commitment to the growth and success of our alumni community is truly commendable. The IEEE IUB Student Branch also played a crucial role in supporting the event.
The collaboration between the EEE Department and the Alumni Association is a testament to the shared commitment in nurturing and empowering the next generation of EEE professionals. This event served as a platform to bridge the gap between academia and industry, providing students with practical skills and industry insights that will prove invaluable in their future endeavors.
Moving forward, the EEE/ETE Alumni Association and the EEE Department remain dedicated to organizing more workshops and initiatives to provide students with the best guidance and support to excel in their careers. The aim is to empower our students and foster a stronger bond within the alumni community.
