Jami from IUBDC serves on the Motions Committee of Vietnam WSDC 2023

Ahmad Tousif Jami from IUBDC, a Global Studies & Governance Department student, has served as a Motions Committee member at Vietnam WSDC 2023.

The World Schools Debate Championship (WSDC) is regarded as the World Cup of School Debating. It is the world's most prestigious debating competition in school-level debating. Held annually, national teams around the world compete here for the ultimate glory of becoming the best in the world.

Sixty four nations around the globe participated in the Vietnam WSDC 2023 held on 18-28 July 2023 at Hanoi, Vietnam which is the largest WSDC held in its 35 years of history.

This year, The WSDC Motions Committee was responsible for setting the debate motions (topics) to be debated at the Vietnam WSDC 2023. Jami served as one of the members there, alongside Mubarrat Wassey (Qatar), Benjamin Goh (Singapore), Eddy Xu (China), Marilena Hadjicosta (Greece), Matija Pusnik (Slovenia), and Kyle Go (Philippines).

Jami also performed the role of an Adjudicator. In his achievement of being a breaking adjudicator, across different rounds, he judged national teams of Italy, Estonia, Germany, Malaysia, Israel, Hungary, Denmark, Peru, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Argentina, Lithuania, Greece, England, Cambodia, Pakistan, Panama, & Hong Kong.

Jami is the first Bangladeshi to achieve both a speaker and judge break at the WSDC. He was the 2nd best EFL speaker at Mexico Online WSDC 2020 and a breaking judge at the Netherlands Online WSDC 2022.
