In a bid to enhance collaborative efforts and explore new partnerships, the Office of International Programs and Relations (IPR) at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) embarked on a productive tour of India from July 26 to August 2, 2023. The visit aimed to foster mutual collaboration with several prestigious higher education institutions across the country. The delegation, led by Farheen Khan, Director of IPR at IUB, engaged with five prominent Indian universities during the tour.

The team held discussions with the Office of International Relations at the SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) based in Kattankulathur, Tamil Nadu, paving the way for potential collaborations. Notably, IUB received scholarship offers for its Master's applicants and invitations for student exchange programs.

Building on an existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), IUB renewed its commitment with the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), based in Vellore and Amaravati, focusing on student exchange and faculty development programs.

During the visit, an MOU was formally exchanged between IUB and the Chandigarh University, opening avenues for short-term student exchanges, joint research, and faculty development.

At Shoolini University, Solan, Himachal Pradesh, discussions revolved around reinforcing research collaborations between the institutions. Special scholarship packages for PhD applicants and faculty exchange opportunities were among the outcomes.

With the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) and the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), Bhubaneswar, Odisha, IUB explored the possibility of partnership in various disciplines with KIIT and found potential in collaborating with KISS on academic initiatives.

The tour showcased IUB's commitment to its five-year strategy for internationalization. The focus remains on facilitating student and faculty mobility, as well as fostering meaningful partnerships with educational institutions across the Asian region.

IPR Director Farheen Khan expressed satisfaction with the progress made during the visit and highlighted the university's dedication to strengthening ties with esteemed Indian counterparts. The collaborations forged during this tour are expected to contribute significantly to IUB's internationalization goals and academic excellence.
