Over a span of two eventful days from August 16-17, 2023, the Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) unveiled the Intra TechFest IUB, Summer 2023. It gathered a large number of participants and created an atmosphere of dedicated enthusiasm among students and faculty together.
This monumental event had an overarching aim to serve as a platform for students to flaunt their technical capabilities. More so, it provided them with real-world experiences, simulating the practical challenges of the corporate and tech world.
A considerable prize pool amounting to BDT 110,000, along with certificates of recognition, was set aside. This acted as an encouraging incentive for students to present their academic projects, meticulously curated and assigned by their respective course instructors.
The fest was segmented into various categories, encapsulating Line Follower Robo Race, Soccer Bot, Battle Bot Competition, RC Robo Race, Microprocessor Project Showcase, Database Project Showcase, System Analysis Project Showcase, Object Oriented Project Showcase, Web Application Project Showcase, and Algorithm Project Showcase. Each of these segments had a strong correlation with academic courses, ensuring that learning and application went hand-in-hand.
A notable mention is the commendable role of Fab Lab IUB. They offered unwavering technical support throughout the event. Established with the vision of facilitating students to bridge the gap between theory and practice, Fab Lab IUB has consistently been a beacon for budding inventors. Their dedicated team, fondly referred to as "Fabbers", were on their toes, offering the necessary technical guidance to all participants.
Acknowledgments were given to dedicated teams, and esteemed guests shared insights and expertise. Among them was Mr. Hitesh Sood, a visionary from Grameenphone Ltd., who conducted a technical session.
Another highlight of the day was an Industrial Session led by Mr. Golam Murshed, Managing Director & CEO of Walton Hi-Tech Industry PLC. His insights were particularly enlightening for the students of the CSE Department, enriching their understanding of the industrial landscape and its manifold opportunities.
The day culminated in a series of awards for various competitions, including the celebrated Intra IUB Programming Contest (iipc), organized every semester by the IUB ACM Student Chapter. The contest shone a spotlight on exceptional students, with Rabiul Islam Raihan emerging as the recurring champion.
IUB's TechFest Summer 2023 was more than just an event. It epitomized the vibrant tech culture of the institution, instilling a sense of innovation and a competitive spirit among students. With such resounding success, the IUB community is filled with anticipation for subsequent editions of TechFest.
